Benjamin Mendy signed for Manchester City in 2017 for 52 Million pounds from Monaco until June 2023. He became a key player for Man City, helping them win the Premier League in 2018,2019 and 2021. He was also featured in the France squad as a full-back and won the World Cup that year, 2018.
In 2021 he was charged with a series of rape cases and attempted rape charges. He would be locked up for almost five months until January 2022, when he received bail. The 29-year-old would later win all seven rape charges and one attempted rape in 2023.
Manchester City removed him from the squad in August 2021, and from September that year, they had declined to pay his weekly 100,000 pounds after he was charged with rape. Mendy filed a lawsuit against Man City to an Employment Tribunal for unlawfully cutting his wages from September 2021 to the expiration of his contract in June 2023.
Man City owe Mendy 9-10 Million pounds in unpaid wages. Manchester City has refused to comment on the issue.
